Terms of Service
Terms for the SWG bar website, official software downloads, and purchases when they become available.
1. Scope and contact
These terms apply to your use of swgbar.com and official SWG bar software and to purchases from this website when checkout opens. SWG bar is maintained by an independent developer, reachable at [email protected]. By using the website or making a purchase, you agree to the applicable terms. Source-code license rights are preserved as described below.
2. Product and authorized use
SWG bar is a macOS utility for examining TLS inspection signals, certificate trust, and observed domains. Its companion Chrome extension displays existing local observations. Use it only on devices and networks you own or are authorized to examine, and follow applicable laws and network policies. Do not use it for covert monitoring of others, unauthorized access, or unlawful collection of data.
3. Requirements and detection limits
The application requires macOS 14 or later and Apple Silicon; the Chrome extension requires Chrome 120 or later and a compatible companion application. Classifications depend on available metadata, certificate evidence, and rules. Independent probes do not establish which certificate another application received, and results are not a guarantee of connection security. The current download is ad-hoc signed rather than Apple Developer ID signed or notarized; macOS may require explicit installation approval.
4. Trial, price, and current availability
The planned paid edition will offer 30 actual-use days free. Unused days do not count toward the trial. After the trial, a one-time payment of US$1.99 allows continued use of the purchased edition. There is no subscription or automatic renewal. Any applicable taxes and the total amount will be displayed before payment. Paid checkout and the trial have not launched. The current GitHub release remains free under the MIT license and has no trial expiry; these terms do not retroactively restrict it.
5. Digital delivery
The software is delivered digitally by download. Before paid checkout opens, the purchase page will explain the included edition, delivery steps, and any activation instructions. We will not accept payment until the purchased software can be delivered and used. Access to future features or separate editions is included only if expressly stated at purchase.
6. Refunds and customer support
When paid sales begin, you may request a full refund within 14 calendar days of purchase by emailing [email protected] with your order reference and purchase email address. We respond to support and refund requests within three business days. Refunds are returned through the original payment method; processing time depends on the payment provider. This policy does not limit any mandatory consumer rights or remedies that apply beyond the 14-day period.
7. Source-code license and privacy
The Mac client, Chrome extension, and Native Messaging host use the MMF-style SWG bar License. You may inspect, build, and privately modify the source for your own use, including on a work computer, without purchasing an official license. Published copies without substantial improvements must preserve our monetization systems and cannot charge separately. Substantially improved derivative products may be free or sold. See the source license for the full conditions. Source code and releases distributed under the MIT license remain governed by that license, including its permission to use, modify, and redistribute the software. These terms do not remove those permissions. The Privacy Policy explains website registrations, local application data, and extension permissions. Observations are stored locally, probes make outbound connections, and not all metadata or diagnostic logs are encrypted. Review logs before sharing them.
8. Updates, reliability, and changes
The current application can clear local observations and other stored data during upgrades and network reinitialization. Back up records you need before upgrading. To the extent permitted by applicable law, software is provided as is, without a guarantee that every connection can be classified or that operation will be uninterrupted. Nothing here excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded. Material changes to these terms will be published with an updated date; purchase terms will be shown before new purchases and will not retroactively reduce existing purchase rights.
